1) How do you choose the line-up?
We try to keep a listening ear for Manitoba musicians by attending
concerts and other festivals to extend an invitation to appear at
Back 40. We also get promo packages and give them a listen.
2) How much do you pay for performer fees?
We are a small festival approx. 1000 people in average attendance. We try to pay performers to cover their
expenses.
3) How did Back Forty get started?
One Sunday afternoon three friends sat on a porch enjoying the scenery
of the countryside. As they talked they visualised how great it
would be to create a Folk Festival in this area. Together they made
this a reality and as the years passed not even bad weather could
dampen their spirits. Its their vision that has helped keep home-made
music alive for 14 years. Thanks to Lin Hiebert, James Friesen &
Wes Hamm.

Yes! Only two km away is Lake Minniwasta with beautiful, modern campsites and beach. Also a super 8 with indoor pool.
